Best Show to Watch... But Not Watch:

We’ve all done it. You’re trying to study or clean your room or maybe workout, yet the silence is overwhelming. So you put on a show. You know your primary focus won’t be the show, and yet, you feel as though it’s background noise is a necessity. So what should you watch? Simple, The Office. One of Netflix’s most popular shows, any of the 9 seasons will suffice. Each episode is only 21 minutes, and although it likely desires your attention, it does not need it. There is not much of a significant plot to the show, so you can miss a couple seconds while you finish the math problem on your homework. The Office is filled with dry humor and irreplaceable characters, but doesn’t have (or need) multiple plot lines that can be difficult to keep up with. As a result, it’s the perfect background show- the worst thing you’ll miss is a good old joke.

I actually just started watching The Office this year, as a senior in college (pretty late to the trend, I know). Before that, I had only seen episodes here and there, but I honestly didn't think I liked it. It wasn't until I actually sat down and watched the first season (learned the characters and what not!) that I actually realized how much I enjoy it. I can definitely have it on in the background now! -Anna

I wish I could get more into these types of shows but as the caption says, it’s more a not watch than a watch from me. I get distracted and don’t understand the humor. I more so enjoy intensity and thrill in television - ex: stranger things.

I'm a huge fan of shows you can turn on and watch but not watch. I would also recommend Friends and New Girl as perfect background noise to whatever it is you have to do.
